RSS Data: Warmest December And Third Warmest Year

Atmospheric temperatures in 2015 ranked behind those reported in 2010 and 1998 although December 2015 was the warmest December in the satellite era, according to data from RSS

oC compared with +0.47oC in 2010 and +0.55ooC which is significantly above the +0.44oC reported in December 2003 which was the second warmest December on record. The anomaly in December compares with +0.43oC in November, +0.45oC in October, +0.38oC in September, +0.39oC in August and +0.29o

Here are the global average temperature anomalies for the lower troposphere for the 10 warmest years in the satelite era, for 12 months of 2015 and also for the 10 warmest December months since 1979 based on data from RSS (some figures have been slightly adjusted since last month):
